In the autumn of 1837, Gustave Courbet left Ornans to become a boarder at the Collège Royal in Besançon. He continued his artistic training with Charles-Antoine Flajoulot, a professor at the Besançon School of Fine Arts. This walk in the heart of the city evokes Courbet's early years before his departure for Paris in 1839, as well as the relationships that the painter had with local personalities: Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Victor Hugo, Max Buchon... The tour ends with the discovery of Courbet's works kept in the Museum of Fine Arts and Archaeology.
