Les bornes royales de Devecey

Along the roads of Devecey, discover the royal milestones, silent witnesses to a past kingdom. When Franche-Comté became part of the Kingdom of France at the end of the 18th century, each parish was required to provide work to maintain the roads. Stone milestones bearing fleurs-de-lis were installed every 1,000 toises (˜2 km) to demarcate sectors. In Devecey, they mark out a path through forests and valleys, bearing witness to the organisation of the land under the Ancien Régime. Follow your guide to discover this discreet heritage, rich in history.
