Architect, decorator, joiner, engineer and designer, Hugues Sambin, an accomplished Renaissance artist, combined a multitude of talents. Originally from Gray, he had the opportunity to work in Fontainebleau under Primaticcio and to further his training with Serlio. He settled in Dijon, where he ran a large workshop and took on many commissions in Burgundy and Franche-Comté.
This tour will introduce you to the work of the architect and sculptor Hugues Sambin and his influence on architecture in Besançon, as well as the late Renaissance in Besançon.
