L’Observatoire de Besançon
L’Observatoire de Besançon
Inaugurated in 1884, it is a centre for research into astrophysics and the measurement of time. Founded to support the local watchmaking industry, the observatory is still an internationally recognised centre for the production of time. Its buildings still house numerous scientific instruments, including its meridian telescope.
