Two big bands, one unforgettable jazz evening at the Besançon Kursaal! The Besançon Kursaal will be beating to the rhythm of jazz on 22 February 2026 at 4pm, with an exceptional double bill: the Besançon University Big Band and the Chanvans B.Jazz Big band. An evening of diversity, improvisation and good humour, celebrating the richness of jazz in all its forms. Besançon University Big Band: the audacity of jazz fusion The Besançon University Big Band offers a 100% jazz fusion programme, exploring worlds as varied as Marcus Miller, Snarky Puppy and Ibrahim Maalouf. What's original about it? All the arrangements are in-house, created by BB leader Mehdi Mabed especially for the occasion! Audiences will be treated to a demanding and unique repertoire, a blend of dynamic energy and contemplative moments, with plenty of room for improvisation. One thing's for sure: the stage will be electric and the good humour infectious! B.Jazz de Chanvans: a journey to the heart of the great jazz movements The B.Jazz big band invites the public on a musical excursion through the great currents of jazz. From the bewitching swing of Mr. PC to the melodic sweetness of Love, the Brazilian warmth of Samba Do Pelo and the soulful urban ambience of On Broadway, each track reveals a different facet of the collective. With Birdland, the group pays tribute to modern jazz, proving once again its openness and creativity. A performance where emotion and diversity meet to exalt the magic of jazz.
