Through its architecture, the Lycée Pasteur bears witness to a long and rich history. It was on this site on the banks of the Doubs that a congregation of Franciscans, also known as Cordeliers, settled in the XIIIᵉ century. Their church was located on the site of today's chapel and a few rare remains remain today. The The conventual buildings around the cloister were rebuilt in the first part of the XVIIIᵉ century.
