The Museum of Franche-Comté Houses in Nancray

Explore 30 Franche-Comté houses, all on a 16-acre wooded area. They were taken apart, rebuilt stone by stone, and then furnished according to their historical period.

Osselle Cave

Osselle Cave was discovered in the 13th century; it is famous for the beauty of its natural scenery, the variety of its stalactites and stalagmites, its colours and its prehistoric treasures.

And nearby…

The Royal Saltworks at Arc et Senans

The Saltworks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is a utopian vision of industrial architecture and the masterpiece of Claude-Nicolas Ledoux, visionary architect of the Age of Enlightenment.

Moncley Château

Designed by architect Claude Bertrand and built in 1778, this château was financed by the Marquis de Terrier-Santans, then president of the Court of Appeals. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Neoclassical architecture in France.

Ornans:

The Loue Valley

Must-sees in Ornans: picturesque old corbelled homes, built over the river, 15th and 16th century mansions (former homes of noble or bourgeois families), and the Town Hall (the former seat of the bailiwick).

The Courbet Museum

The museum, 2,000 m2 and 21 exhibition rooms, is a beautiful marriage of the modern and traditional. You can visit it with or without a guide. Dedicated to Courbet and his works, the building honours the environment and the home of the artist. Exhibitions and visuals use modern technology; the collections are rich and varied.
