Conference by Gilles Clément : The role of art in the reading of the landscape
The École d’art de Belfort and the Frac have joined forces to invite the gardener, landscape designer, botanist, biologist and writer Gilles Clément. The spectacular exhibition on The Planetary Garden which he curated in 1999 at the Grande Halle de la Villette and his numerous writings, which constitute a work that is both theoretical and literary, have made him famous among the general public. The artistic dimension of what we perceive in space and what we call “landscape” is not always the result of a conscious creation.
We can then speak of involuntary art. Gilles Clément addresses this question on a large scale in our territories and elsewhere. His intervention echoes the Wild Cube by the artist Lois Weinberger, installed near the Frac.
