Created in 1995 by Arthur Schoonderwoerd, its artistic director, Cristofori brings together performers playing on historical instruments, in orchestral formations or in chamber music ensembles, to explore all the repertoires from the 18th to the 21st century. Its name is inspired by that of the great Florentine keyboard instrument maker of the early 18th century, Bartolomeo Cristofori. All of Cristofori’s programs are elaborated with great care and are the result of extensive research, especially from musical sources. The aim of the Ensemble Cristofori is to familiarise a wide public with music and musical performance on historical instruments.
