The CIAP consists of a permanent exhibition presenting in a fun way the architecture and heritage of the city in all its components and a space for temporary exhibitions. Three projections tell the story of the formation of the city site, its history from antiquity to 1950, and from 1950 to the present day and then into the future.
Open in July and August every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All year round from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Since 1986, the city of Besançon has been labeled a “City of Art and History”. Besançon is thus part of a network which currently includes 146 Towns and Countries of Art and History committed to the enhancement and animation of their heritage and architecture, through a program of diversified actions.
The creation of the CIAP is part of this process.
The Town Hall, Place du Huit Septembre, has been identified as the venue for this structure.
